Information Technology is one of the best emerging branches in the engineering education. Information Technology is a fast growing discipline and is full of rigorous practical analysis.
Information Technology refers to the management and use of the information using computer-based tools. It can refer to both hardware and software. Mostly, it is the term used to refer to business applications of computer technology rather than scientific applications.
Information Technology (IT) can be used potentially in every sector of the economy. Information Technology has been a dynamic sector in many developed economies and India has stood out as a developing country where IT sector has grown indefinitely . Information Technology jobs in India are the first choice career for the bright brains who are innovative. Hence, IT jobs in India are also booming with increasing demand for information technology professionals.
The IT industry has great scope for people as it provides employment to technical and non-technical graduates and has the capability to generate huge foreign exchange inflow for India. India exports software’s and services to approximately 95 countries in the world. Since all the engineering sectors need the basics of IT and so the IT students have a best future to settle down in any of the engineering sector.
Future of Information Technology :
IT will continue to gain momentum. The immense expansion in networking technologies is expected to continue into the future decades also. IT will bring about an improvement in the quality of life as it impacts on global competitiveness. Technologies that are emerging are Data Warehousing and Data Mining. They involve collecting data in normal research. Software services that are being used will go a long way.
Year of Establishment :
Sridevi Engineering college is established in the year 2001 and sponsored by Sridevi Educational society. The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2001 with an intake of 60 students. The first batch of students left with flying colors and made their own mark in the corporate world.
Head of the Department :
The department is headed by a 30 years of industry and teaching experience senior Professor. He has worked in prestigious public sector organizations and participated in the design and development of various prestigious IT projects in India. He has also worked as a General Manager in MNCs in Hitec City. He was a CISCO authorized trainer for the CISCO campus at IIIT. He has widely traveled through out the world as a part of outsourcing activities and design of different IT projects. He has worked in different JNTU affiliated engineering colleges in Hyderabad in several roles.

Achievements/Placements :
Majority of the eligible candidates have secured Campus Placements in various National and Multi-National Software Companies including Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Motorola and Satyam. Many students who passed out are also pursuing post-graduate programs in India and many more have topped GRE, Toffel and pursuing their MS in USA and some have settled down in IT industry thru out the world. The department has encouraged the students to participate in sports events at College, University and State Level.
