Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is offering B.Tech and M.Tech (Embedded Systems) programmes. The present intake in B.Tech is 120 and M.Tech is 18. The department of ECE is guided by a team of highly experienced and dedicated faculty. They impart quality training to students, with great emphasis being laid on understanding the fundamentals and applying it to solve the challenging problems.
The department has excellent infrastructure to explore the technological advancements in the relevant fields. All the labs of the department are equipped with state of art equipment enabling to undertake research oriented projects in both undergraduate and post graduate programmes.
There is an ever increasing demand of the fresh graduates into the department. Close interaction with industry has led to the evolution of a teaching system, which produces diligent and erudite engineers. The young engineers have excelled in higher education and industry.
Head of the Department :
Dr.Y.Rajasree, an academician and administrator with exceptional caliber to achieve benchmark quality in any sphere of activity. She had served as Scientist at CSIR unit for 2 years before switching over to teaching field wherein had worked in reputed Engineering Colleges in Chennai and Hyderabad in last 24 years. She has to her credit 5 research publications in International Journals and has presented papers in 16 National and International Conferences. She is author of two text books related to Electronics. She has received 2 National awards and 1 International award for academic excellence.
Faculty :
Students are guided by a dedicated, highly qualified and experienced faculty. There are 3 Professors, 4 Associate Professors and 12 Assistant Professors. Also 5 supporting staff assists in the various department Laboratories.
LABORATORIES :
Besides imparting theoretical knowledge, a lot of stress is laid on hands on training and overall development. The department has following laboratories to cater to various courses:
- Electronic Devices and Circuits Laboratory: It caters to the needs of all the branches of Engineering. It is well equipped with Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Regulated Power Supplies, specially designed semiconductor trainer kits and meters.
- Microprocessors Laboratory: Facilities exist for training the students on trainer kits as well as on the PC. A number of add on cards are also available.
- Electronic Simulation Laboratory: There are 66 personal computers and FPGA Trainer kits and softwares -Xilinx, Multisim , Pspice and MATLAB.
- IC and Applications Laboratory: The laboratory has all types of trainer kits for conducting regular theory and laboratory classes related B.Tech programme.
- Microwave and Optical Communication Lab:The laboratory has all the test benches: Gunn Diode, Klystron Diode and fire optics trainer kits. This sophisticated laboratory is exclusively for final year ECE students.
- Communication Laboratory: All types of modulation trainer kits, CROs and Function Generators are available in this laboratory.

B.Tech Third students are taken for industrial tour every year. This academic session students went to Tamil Nadu and Kerela in Dec 2009 and had visited industries there.
